코로나19 사태 속에서 치러진 2021학년도 대학수학능력시험(수능)은 대체로 평이하게 출제된 것으로 분석됐다. 풀지 못할 정도의 킬러문항은 나오지 않았고, 상위권 학생에게도 까다로울 수 있는 준킬러문항을 통해 변별력을 확보했다는 평가다. 이른바 물수능과 불수능 사이 수준으로 출제됐다는 분석이 나온다. 국어와 수학 나형, 영어가 지난 수능과 비슷하거나 다소 쉽게 나왔고, 수학 가형이 조금 어려웠다는 게 현장교사와 입시업체들의 전반적인 분석이다.

유은혜 “자가격리 수험생 대학별 고사 시험실 348개 확보”

유은혜 사회부총리 겸 교육부장관이 코로나19 사태 속에서 치러질 대학별 고사를 위해 자가격리자 응시가 가능한 8개 권역별 시험실 348개를 확보했다고 밝혔다. 정부는 대학수학능력시험(수능) 직후 이번 주말에 실시되는 대학별 고사에만 20만여명의 수험생이 응시하는 만큼, 방역조치를 강화해 코로나19가 확산되지 않도록 할 방침이다. 유 부총리는 4일 오전 11시 정부서울청사에서 수능 이후 대학별 평가(고사) 관련 브리핑을 열고 “오늘부터 22일까지 대학별 대면 전형이 이어진다”며 이 같이 밝혔다. 지난 3일 수능이 끝난 가운데 이번 주말인 5~6일 양일간 논술과 면접 등 대학별 고사에 연인원 20만7000명이 응시할 전망이다. 다음 주말인 12~13일에는 연인원 19만2000명의 수험생이 대학별 고사를 치른다.

Children with dyslexia show stronger emotional responses

Children diagnosed with dyslexia show greater emotional reactivity than children without dyslexia, according to a new collaborative study by UC San Francisco neuroscientists with the UCSF Dyslexia Center and UCSF Memory and Aging Center. In the study, published online in an early form November 20, 2020 in Cortex, children with dyslexia who watched emotionally evocative videos showed increased physiological and behavioral responses when compared to children without dyslexia. This higher emotional reactivity was correlated with stronger connectivity in the brain's salience network, a system that supports emotion generation and self-awareness. The results broaden current conceptualizations of typical dyslexia and suggest the syndrome is much more complex than just a weakness in reading skills, adding support to the growing awareness that dyslexia is often associated with hidden interpersonal strengths.

미래인재 양성·교육격차 완화

강원도교육청(교육감 민병희)은 새로운 지식과 가치를 창출할 수 있는 창의성과 협업 능력을 키우고, 담당 교원의 역량을 높이기 위한 ‘미래인재 양성을 위한 인공지능(AI) 교육 운영 계획’을 발표했다. 도교육청은 미래 인재 양성을 위한 교육시스템을 마련하기 위하여 ▲인공지능 교육 기반 조성 ▲인공지능 교육 교원 역량 강화 ▲인공지능 교육 연구학교 및 선도학교 운영 ▲인공지능 교육과정 운영 지원 ▲인공지능 교육 활용 및 확대 추진의 5가지 과제를 제시하고, 이에 따른 세부 운영 계획을 세워 추진할 예정이다. 우선, 인공지능 교육 기반 조성을 위하여 유·초·중·고·특 모든 교실에 무선 AP를 설치하고, 교원과 학생용 스마트기기 보급을 추진하며, 디지털문해력 전용교실을 만들어 학습자 중심의 미래형 교실 환경을 구축한다. 또한, 인공지능 교육을 담당하는 교원의 역량을 높이기 위하여 교육대학원 인공지능 융합교육 전공을 지원하여 전문 교사를 양성하고, 교사 대상 연수와 교과연구회를 운영한다. 내년도 인공지능 교육 선도학교 20교를 선정하여 교당 3,600만원을 지원하고, 디지털문해력 연구학교와 선도학교 총 35교에 교당 1,000만원을 지원할 예정이다.

Developing competencies in education for the AI Era

The International Forum on AI and the Futures of Education will convene education and technology experts from around the world from 7 to 8 December 2020 to discuss AI skills for the futures of education and AI as a common good for education. Under this year’s theme of ‘Developing Competencies for the AI Era’, this virtual two-day event will start the first day with defining and developing AI competencies, followed by a consultation on the futures of education and the way forward. The event – organized in partnership with the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, and the National Commission of the People’s Republic of China for UNESCO – will convene education and technology experts from around the world to discuss AI skills for the futures of education and AI as a common good for education. Participants will share policies and practices in defining the competencies required in the AI era, and examine strategies to prepare all people to live and work with AI effectively.

Inclusion in education: Turning commitments into action for children with disabilities

‘Know me for my abilities not my disability’, said Leopoldine Nakashole of the Ministry of Education in Namibia during a three-day International Symposium held by UNESCO, Leonard Cheshire and Portugal’s Ministry of Education. To mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, key stakeholders called for accelerated efforts towards inclusive education for all learners. ‘Our challenge, as governments, is not only to think about how we cannot leave anyone behind, but how we can prevent learners from leaving education, schools and “us”’, said Minister of Education of Portugal, Tiago Brandão Rodrigues, reminding us of the challenges the world is facing in providing quality education for all.
